Susquehanna Sunrise

Wake up this morning saw the mercury dip to 29. However, I knew that by midday we would see the 60’s once again. Urging Robin to put her face on early, we made the trek southwest to the Susquehanna as I knew that eagles had a habitat on one of the islands. Weaving our way past the dotted landscape of dairy farms and  horse drawn buggies, York County was within reach in an hour.  At a lookout in the park, we introduced ourselves to Jerry Albert. I noticed his Canon 7D camera and  ‘L’ glass and in no time our kibitzing became a fast bond. Jerry hails from nearby Lancaster. We shared some photo information but more importantly he told me where the eagles hung out, pointed out some other interesting facts about future shoots and we made plans to meet again next spring upon our return. How funny the intersection of peoples’ lives. We were unable to find more than one eagle but the way the morning opened to us was complimentary enough. Enjoy the show.

Just a Fence

I see things somewhat different than the masses. Take for instance the fence that runs from the campground to Jerome’s house. Literally hundreds of people pass by it daily. There’s nothing unusual about it. It’s taken for granted by almost everyone. But in my world, I see it as the fence to Jerome’s. It has a welcoming effect. I pass by it each day on my walk along Yellow Hill Road. On this morning, the sun just seemed to cast its rays in such divine light. As I knelt to photograph this angle, I wondered if anyone else is drawn to this as I. Not just a fence, but lines converging to the home of a friend. There is beauty in its simplicity. It’s existence is not to deter or prevent, but to allow one to enjoy.

Stopped Into a Church

Early this Sunday morning I had a thirst for some milk. To my chagrin, the Norcold held none. To the cabinet I strode to retrieve that last box of rice milk, but alas, it too was gone. I braved the chill and started the car, depressing the defroster button as well as heating the seats. It’s apparent that milk is important to me. As I drove out Oaklyn, the Mama’s and Papa’s streamed an oldie through the Bose as I came upon this Sunday gathering. Was it karma, irony, or just one of those moments that I seem to luck into as I heard them sing,

“Stopped into a church, I passed along the way.
Well I got down on my knees, and I pretend to pray. “
