Across the Lone Star

Posted by on January 26, 2010

We’ve done some traveling this week trying to get across Texas. We spent a night in Beaumont, and then another in Seguin.

We decided to take the beltway around San Antonio. We had been there before taking in the Alamo and River Walk and didn’t want to maneuver the motorhome towing the trailer thru the maze of traffic. Houston was busy enough for us. During midday we decided to pull into a rest area for some lunch and check the internet for campground possibilities. We found one that proved to be a gem. We were headed for Kerrville, Texas, to the Guadalupe River RV Resort. It’s so named for the river that runs through it.

The ladies in the office were so accommodating and gave us an excellent site near some great amenities. The first night we went over to do laundry. While waiting on it we did a good half hour in the steam room, another in the jacuzzi and then cooled down in the indoor heated pool. This was in addition to the great wooded site that they afforded us. This is definitely resort status.

To top this off we got word that the Saloon would be open on Sunday for the playoff games. Yes, you heard that right. There’s a saloon right here in the park. This is a first for us. I’ve never visited a campground that had its own saloon on the premises.

It looks as if we may stay here for a bit longer than had previously planned. Not too much here they don’t have.
