Celebrating Labor Day

Posted by on September 7, 2009

american-flag-2a We celebrated Labor Day today by doing absolutely no labor. We had planned on going to the beach but in the night, about 2 a.m., I heard the rain hitting the roof. Soon it was a thunderstorm. Not long after that the deluge hit and it rained continuously all morning and continued on into the afternoon. Erin wanted to get back to Raleigh before dark so she set out by 2 p.m. There would be no beach today. There would be nothing as the rains continued to pelt the area so hard it was difficult to step outside and make the seven steps to the vehicles. Feeling a bit claustrophobic, I had to get out for a road trip. Robin and I decided to head to Surf City. The streets through the town were flooded by the thunderstorms and as you would drive through them, waves of water would jettison high above the Jeep. This was the best undercarriage washing it’s ever experienced. So I guess some involuntary labor did get done. Hope all your outings, picnics and festivities went well.

It was a good unlabor day……..although dreary, it was restful, and meant for regrouping and gathering together. A good day for wandering in the Wrangler……….happy trails!

Glad you got the rain and not us! I shampooed carpets in the 5th wheel, long overdue, and it was kind of labour intense.
Getting ready to replace the deck at our clubhouse next weekend and that will be labour! everyone has been volunteered and we thought we had retired from orders.
Got a map of Michigan and found Hillman, we hope to go to NH in June for the bike rally so hopefully we will pass by your location, or you could come this way first…..
Kelley has tests boked into Feb 2010!!! unreal, hopefully he will get a cancellation sooner.
take care, stay dry and enjoy.
love to both and the prof sends his paw prints along for his admirer 🙂

I can’t believe the health care system of Canada would make it such a long wait for an appointment. Perhaps Obama and the rest of the USA needs to find that free health care has a price on it…….a long wait to see a doctor. Glad to hear you’re doing well and being productive nevertheless.
