The Barnyard-Campground Review

I received an email from a new reader the other day, which came as a pleasant surprise.  Apparently we were traveling through Columbia, SC enroute to our daughter’s home in Raleigh and my website located on the rear of the RV was viewed by a passerby.  This is always a pleasant surprise to make a new acquaintance of someone previously unknown just by viewing the logo. This reminded me of the fact that I hadn’t mentioned our campground while in Columbia and my readers always want to know of places to stay.  I’m sure Columbia is a lovely and worthwhile city to visit, however, I personally would have limited reason to be there.  If I were to visit the University of  South Carolina or yearning to do some bass fishing, Lake Murray is a well known stop on the Bass Masters circuit. Otherwise, I’m not sure why else I may venture there. Nevertheless, if you need a stop, head for the Barnyard RV Park, located off Interstate 20. Take Route 1 north for two miles and turn left at the local flea market and head your rig right behind the steel buildings. The park is clean, with paved streets.  The sites are long enough to accompany big rigs and had no trouble accommodating our 70 feet. Full hookups with 50 amp service and cable TV were a welcome respite for this road-weary traveler. The park has WI-FI  but it is not free.  A small fee accompanies getting on line.  It’s not someplace that I would want to stay for any extended length but if in need of an overnight stay or a rest of a day or two, this venue will allow a pleasant stopover. It doesn’t have the “it” factor that would beckon me over and over but I have to give it a GL rating of 6.
