Life is a Bowlful of Larries

Posted by on February 14, 2009

utilitypole12A few days ago we met Sandra and Larry from Virginia.  In fact, they had some heater problems and while the nights were still a bit chilly we lent them one of our ceramic heaters to take the chill off the evening air.  We exchanged pleasantries and backgrounds, finding that both of us had something in common with them.  Sandra was also a retired nurse while just her husband’s name was enough similarity for me. Sandra had shared the fact with us that she had matriculated to an RV drivers school and was about to begin her first lesson in a day or so.  The instructor would come to our campground and present the basics.  After that, they would go out on the road and to a designated area learning to turn, maneuver, back-up, change lanes and whatever else she would need to know to drive by herself.  Apparently on his first visit, the instructor told Larry and Sandra that he wasn’t please with several things he found wrong with their coach.  I’m not sure if this was a ploy to capture some extra business for a partner, but they have one beautiful rig with apparently no problems other than the heater. Larry became so perturbed that when he had to pull out, he completely forgot to unplug from the electrical box, almost pulling the entire unit out of the ground.  Needless to say, he was a bit embarrassed. I guess he and I have much more in common than just our names. I remember mutilating a mailbox at the end of my driveway. GL
